PSV Eindhoven have abandoned a plan to try and sign Tyrell Malacia from Manchester United amid concerns over his fitness.

That’s according to Soccer News, who report that Malacia had been on PSV’s list of options but has now been discarded.

They explain that the Dutch champions are currently exploring the transfer market extensively and Malacia’s name had appeared on their list of potential targets.

The matter had moved forward, and the Manchester United man had seemed like he could become an option but it quickly became apparent that his fitness would be a problem.

PSV believe that the defender will need some time to get properly fit and those fitness worries saw them abandon any plans to sign him from Manchester United.

They have completely discarded the idea and are now switching their attention to other possible reinforcements instead.

Soccer News add that Malacia’s situation at Manchester United can be labelled as ‘crazy’, with his injury problems now meaning he hasn’t featured since May 2023.

Those injury issues have now put any transfer back to the Netherlands to bed too, with PSV quickly pulling away when they saw the situation for themselves.

Manchester United are hoping to get several deals over the line before the summer transfer window closes.

Fulham are reportedly unsure whether they will be able to convince Scott McTominay to leave Manchester United this summer.

United are willing to part ways with the Scotland international in the coming week, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe planning to use any funds raised from departures to fund the signing of reinforcements.

Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui have all arrived at Old Trafford recently, and further new arrivals are expected. However, United are equally focused on offloading some of their fringe players.

The Red Devils have made it clear that McTominay is available this summer, with a host of clubs around Europe coming forward to register an interest in acquiring his services. Fulham are among those who are keen on the Scotland international, shortlisting the midfielder as their top target to replace Joao Palhinha.

The Craven Cottage outfit recently reopened talks with United over McTominay, having seen two previous bids rejected.

However, the deal appears to now be in doubt. According to GiveMeSport, Fulham are unsure about whether the 27-year-old would be willing to turn his back on his boyhood club. Marco Silva’s side are aware that they will need to ‘persuade’ the playmaker of a move, though they are unsure about the likelihood of him green-lighting the deal.

Fulham are therefore planning to continue pushing for McTominay whilst also keeping all of their options open and exploring alternative options in case their pursuit of their top target is unsuccessful.

They believe that McTominay is the ideal signing in midfield but are in a race against time to bring in reinforcements and therefore do not want to commit the remainder of the window pursuing a player who is unsure about Silva’s project and whether the move suits his ‘personal ambitions’.

Fulham are hopeful that their fears do not come to fruition, and they retain confidence that United will eventually reduce their asking price for their No.39, knowing that Ratcliffe and co are hoping for a sale sooner rather than later.

The higher powers at the Theatre of Dreams will be hoping that they can strike a quickfire deal in the region of £30million for McTominay, with those newfound funds expected to be used in a bid to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte.
