Hodgson on Casemiro
Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson was proud of his team’s victory, especially after losing so easily to United in midweek.
Hodgson explained on their official website that he believed Palace could influence Manchester United’s tactics and Casemiro’s positioning.
He said: “The form right from the start and the pressure from the start, unlike last night – which was a completely different team to be honest – I thought we would put a lot more pressure on the players with the ball.

“Casemiro dropped deep and they found it harder to make the passes they made to us on Tuesday, and as a result it was easier for our defenders.”
Casemiro had no influence
The numbers confirm what Hodgson said. Casemiro completed just 81% of his passes, 59 in total. During the midweek victory he completed 89% of his passes and 100 in total. He also scored a goal and provided an assist.
Palace limited his ability to influence the game and it was part of their plan.
“It’s not rocket science,” Hodgson added. A message that will land United in trouble if other opposing managers follow suit. continue reading
