‘Win the next one, win the next one’ Solskjaer speaks ahead of Old Trafford return against Sheffield United
Jude Bellingham expects to leave Birmingham City in the next transfer window amid interest from Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, though the German club may be his preferred destination.
HBAgency
MEN Sport has been told that Bellingham, who is officially represented by his father, is anticipating a transfer this summer, though Dortmund would appear to be the current favourites with Birmingham forced to sell. It’s understood that there was interest from Chelsea, but that it’s now a two-horse race for the teenage midfielder’s signature, which could cost around £30million.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now has plenty of midfield options, including Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic. But United are also keen on Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, as well as Jadon Sancho.
Solskjaer held a press conference on Tuesday morning in which he spoke about the upcoming game against Sheffield United.

United ‘waiting for Sancho price to drop’
Manchester United are ready to wait for Jadon Sancho’s transfer asking price to fall below £100million, reports have claimed.
The Daily Mail state that United’s interest in Sancho is matched by Man City, Liverpool and Real Madrid, and that the Old Trafford club are keen to drive down Borussia Dortmund’s valuation of the player.
The German club have yet to receive any formal bids, it’s claimed.

United’s predicted line-up
There’s a good chance Manchester United will recall Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood to their starting line up against Sheffield United after the two players’ encouraging cameos against Tottenham.
Pogba, 27, hasn’t started a game for United since September 30th, having been plagued by ankle issues for most of the 2019/20 season. He made a return in December with two substitute appearances against Newcastle and Watford, before it was revealed he needed surgery.
The rescheduled Premier League season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, has given Pogba the chance to come back into the United side and he featured from the bench in Friday night’s 1-1 draw with Spurs. Pogba won the penalty from which Bruno Fernandes equalised for United and impressed in his 30 minutes on the pitch.

United have yet another leader

Greenwood is surprising coaches in training
Manchester United’s coaches have been taken aback by Mason Greenwood’s ability to use both feet and the extra analytical work he puts in at the training.
The 18-year-old forward is pushing for a regular spot in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, having scored 12 senior goals this season in a breakthrough campaign. He came off the bench in United’s recent 1-1 draw with Tottenham to great effect and could start Wednesday night’s contest with Sheffield United.
And United’s Under-23s assistant coach, and former midfielder, Quinton Fortune has revealed why Solskjaer is the ideal manager for a special talent like Greenwood.
“Mason is fortunate he’s got Ole as a manager,” Fortune told the official United website.
“Obviously there’s all the coaches he’s had through his youth-team career but he couldn’t ask for a better manager because Ole’s done it at the highest level.

Greenwood is continuing to learn and improve
Manchester United had just won a corner and Mason Greenwood had just come on. “Mason, just find a position, son, and get a goal,” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bellowed.
Greenwood did not get a goal but his variety left Tottenham in knots after they had neutered the one-dimensional Daniel James. Greenwood embarked on three dribbles and his unpredictability was inches away from securing a 95th minute winner. The Tottenham left-back Ben Davies always knew James would go on the outside yet Greenwood was unreadable as a spin bowler.

Leicester relaxed about selling players amid Maddison links
Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers says he is relaxed about the future of his players, as the likes of James Maddison and Ben Chilwell are linked with moves away.
The Foxes sold Harry Maguire to United for £80million last summer and Maddison is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s radar this time around.
Rodgers insists his club is in a strong position and don’t need to sell their star men.
This is what the Leicester boss told Sky Sports:
“The club have got good experience of situations where bigger the so-called bigger clubs come in.
“We’re always aware that while there are good players, that will always be of interest to other teams that have more money than us.
“We don’t lose sleep worrying about it. We’re here to develop players and improve the standard of the team. Of course, if we’re doing that then that will be taken note of by other clubs.
“We just have to continue with our work and always try to have a pipeline in place where if you lose one, you can have the next one in.
“We’re certainly not actively looking to move anyone on that’s for sure. We want to keep everyone together but we’ll see what happens in the summer.”

More from McTominay on his new deal
He’s been speaking to United’s official website:
“Very excited. You see the team we’ve got now and it’s amazing. For everybody from the outside looking in they should be saying that we’ve got a real chance to go and do really well.
“For us we have to keep our feet on the ground, keep training well every day and listen to the coaching staff and the ideas they’re portraying to us and put that into practice on the pitch. It’s strange with no fans at the minute but hopefully in time we’ll be able to get back to normal and resume where we left off after the last game.
“Obviously for me every time I train and step out on the pitch I give my best for the manager and the coaching staff and the players around me, and I’ll continue to do that throughout the duration I’m here and long may it be as many years as possible.”

McGhee wanted by three clubs
Dion McGhee is generating interest from clubs in the Premier League, Scottish Premiership and the Netherlands ahead of his official release by Manchester United next week.
The MEN revealed last week McGhee, 19, will leave United upon the expiration of his contract on June 30 and the academy graduate also tweeted a farewell post.
Sources close to McGhee have told the MEN West Ham United, Rangers, and AZ Alkmaar are the ‘frontrunners’ to sign the Oldham-born forward. AZ were second to Ajax only on goal difference at the time the Eredivisie was cancelled because of the coronavirus.

Norwood on Pogba
As well as speaking about teammate Dean Henderson,Sheffield United’s Ollie Norwood has said that Paul Pogba gets too much stick. He came through the Old Trafford ranks with the United midfielder, who he believes is often unfairly criticised.
When asked if Pogba was misunderstood, he said:
“I think so, yeah. He’s actually a really nice down-to-earth lad, he was when I knew him.
“When we were in the youth team he was always singing and dancing then, so it’s nothing to do with the hype [surrounding] him now.
“Paul I’ve known for a long time, a World Cup winner, a Serie A winner – he’s done everything in the game. The amount of stick he gets is incredible at times”

Solskjaer team news hint
Solskjaer has spoken to United’s official website about the fitness of his squad ahead of the game versus Sheffield United.
Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe missed the Tottenham draw and although Victor Lindelof picked up a knock late in the game, Solskjaer has no injury concerns.
“Yeah. We don’t have any other injury issues, I think they all managed to get through the game. They were tired towards the end, some of them, but we’ve got another 90 minutes under our belt and we’re ready to go again.”

United stance on De Gea and Henderson
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has repeated his prediction Dean Henderson will become the number one for Manchester United and England.
Henderson, 23, has excelled on loan at Sheffield United in his first Premier League campaign and is joint-top of the clean sheets table with Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, having earned promotion with the Blades last year.
David de Gea’s propensity for errors has intensified the clamour among some United supporters for Henderson to replace the Spaniard next season and Henderson is heavily tipped to start for England at the European Championship.
Henderson’s loan with Sheffield United is due to expire next week but United are expected to finalise an arrangement for him to extend his stay at Bramall Lane until the end of the season.

Solskjaer on De Gea
In his press conference – which you can follow here – Solskjaer was asked about David de Gea’s mistake against Tottenham:
“David is the best goalkeeper in the world, he’s conceded two goals in the last seven he’s played for us, there are City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton, two goals in seven games, we’ve gone on a run and the two goals.
“The Everton one is a freak one, this one he can’t save it, he makes great saves, wins games for us and he’s still the best goalkeeper the world. David is working really hard, he isn’t making errors you see time and time again. He’s working hard in training, I’m pleased with his work.
“He’s been at United nine years now, next year is his 10th season. He’s had some fantastic seasons and I don’t think it’s a bad run if you concede two goals in seven games against the teams we’ve played. He’s made matchwinning saves, he saved a point for us against Tottenham with the save, mentally a very strong keeper but I speak to him every day, that’s fine.”

United ‘offered’ Willian on a free
Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign outgoing Chelsea veteran winger Willian.
The Daily Mail report that United could sign the Brazilian for free, with his Chelsea contract up at the end of the season, though Willian wouldn’t appear to fit Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s preferred transfer strategy.

United predicted to win
Mark Lawrenson’s predicts are back – and ahead of Manchester United’s game against Sheffield United he’s explained why – barring David de Gea’s form – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are in a ‘good place’ right now.
This is the BBC pundit’s prediction, a 2-0 win for Solskjaer:
“Sheffield United are another side who have not made much attacking impact since the Premier League restarted. That is obviously going to be a major problem for them in terms of getting anything at Old Trafford.
On top of that, things are going against them – like their red card in Sunday’s defeat at Newcastle and their ‘goal’ that wasn’t given against Aston Villa.
This will be their third away game on the trot, which hardly helps matters either, so I will go with a Manchester United win here.
Watching Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side in Friday’s draw at Spurs, you could tell they are in a good place at the moment. I know David de Gea’s mistake cost them a goal but they have so many quality players, and it feels like they are about to seriously kick on as a team.
De Gea has not suddenly become a bad goalkeeper, it is just that at the moment he is not the De Gea who was United’s best player for three years. I wonder if he has just tweaked his technique a little bit, because what he used to do was brilliant and now what he does is average.”

Henderson tipped for United No.1
Former Manchester United youngster – and current Sheffield United captain – Ollie Norwood has backed his teammate Dean Henderson to become the No.1 at Old Trafford.
Henderson has enjoyed a stellar season on loan at Bramall Lane and could return to United to put pressure on David de Gea.
This is what Norwood told Sky Sports:
“Definitely, he’s proven himself this season, he’s up there with most clean sheets in the league so he’s obviously doing something right.
“I’ve read a few things from different people and I do agree that there would be a lot more pressure on him going and playing as Manchester United’s No 1 rather than Sheffield United’s – the scrutiny he would be under being England’s No 1 as well.
“I’m sure Hendo can handle that. He’s sure of himself, he’s very confident.
“I’m delighted he’s staying until the end of the season to help us, I have no doubt over the next [eight] games he will pick up some points for us.
“Next season is next season, we are not looking that far ahead.”

Neville predicts two starters vs Sheffield United
Gary Neville is convinced that Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes can play together at Manchester United as long as the French midfielder remains committed.
United fans got their first taste of the partnership between the two in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s midfield in Friday night’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham. Pogba was introduced as a second half substitute and won the penalty from which Fernandes levelled, after Steven Bergwijn broke the deadlock.
And former United defender Neville believes Pogba will now remain at United beyond the summer and backed him to show his quality alongside Fernades – starting alongside him versus Sheffield United tomorrow.
This is what Neville said on his self-titled Sky Sports podcast:
