Mason Greenwood decided to leave English football 12-months ago to try and rebuild his career and things could not be going better for former Manchester United starlet.

The 22-year-old completed a move to Marseille in the summer, which came after he spent the previous season on-loan at Getafe.

Now, he has wasted little time into settling into life on the Cote d’Azur.

Real Madrid and Barcelona maintain Greenwood interest

HITC understands that Greenwood is already attracting strong interest after a hugely impressive start to life in France.

Greenwood has bagged five goals in his first four league games playing off the right for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

HITC can reveal that Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have all been watching Greenwood closely since his arrival in the South of France.

We can reveal that Florentino Perez’ Real and Joan Laporta’s Barca both considered moving for Greenwood in the summer after his excellent campaign with Getafe, but they had other priorities. However, they both have huge admiration for Greenwood as a player.

Manchester United keeping tabs on Greenwood progress

Marseille believed they were getting one of the world’s top young attackers as they paid less than £30million for him in the summer – although the deal included major clauses that could benefit former club Manchester United.

HITC is told that United have no plans to utilise their buy back within the deal as they are happy with the sell-on figure, which they do anticipate will earn them a ‘significant sum’ at some point in the not so distant future.

His current boss De Zerbi played a huge role on luring him to Marseille and he is delighted with how he is looking.

“Greenwood is simply exceptional. He is an excellent player, and it shows. I am happy to see him score to put an end to all the controversy in the media,” he said of the England striker last month.

“How far can Mason Greenwood go with me? I don’t know. He has to keep training like he does. Mason Greenwood is a serious boy, and we are all satisfied with him as a player, and as a person. He has a huge margin of improvement.”

According to Metro, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is taking a cautious approach with the returns of Rasmus Hojlund and Mason Mount, ensuring the duo do not suffer further injury setbacks.

Hojlund, sidelined by a hamstring injury sustained during United’s pre-season tour in the U.S., has yet to make an appearance this season.

Meanwhile, Mount, who impressed in pre-season, featured in matches against Fulham and Brighton before injury struck again.

The good news for United is that both players have returned to training and are in contention for Saturday’s match against Crystal Palace.

However, ten Hag remains cautious. “They are back on the pitch, they are back in team training,” ten Hag said during a press conference. “We have to decide whether they are fit enough to start. But it’s very pleasing they are back with the squad.”

The Dutch manager is acutely aware of the demands the upcoming matches will place on his team.

“We have so many games in this block to cover, so yeah, very happy. They did a couple of training sessions. We will have to see how they recover, and tomorrow, we will make a final call,” he added.

Hojlund, who scored 16 goals in his debut season at Old Trafford, was plagued by recurring injuries, including both back and hamstring issues.

Mount’s move from Chelsea saw a bright start, but his first season was derailed, as he managed only eight starts.

Ten Hag opened up on the physical toll injuries took on the squad last season, which led to several players being “overloaded.”

As such, he is determined not to repeat that situation, stressing the need to manage players carefully. “You have to be careful. In top football, you always go to boundaries,” he stated.
