Sport Transfer: De Gea finally gets new club after leaving Man Utd
David De Gea is in talks to join Genoa this summer, according to The Athletic.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been without a club since he left Manchester United in the summer of 2023.
De Gea left the Red Devils after his contract expired and he failed to agree fresh terms.
The 33-year-old is now set to sign for the Serie A side as a free agent.
Genoa finished 11th in the Italian top flight last season after being promoted from Serie B in 2022/23.
It was reported that De Gea was attracting interest from clubs in Italy, the United States and Saudi Arabia. It was also claimed that an unnamed English club had expressed interest in his signature.
Manchester United fans made their feelings clear on Mason Mount after his performance against Arsenal in a pre-season friendly match on Sunday.

Mount’s starring role for Man Utd vs Arsenal
Manchester United have only two matches remaining on their pre-season tour after the Arsenal match at the SoFi Stadium.
Erik ten Hag’s men will face Real Betis next Thursday at the Snapdragon Stadium before their final pre-season match against Liverpool on 4th August.
Mason Mount has regularly played in the pre-season tour after missing out on Euro 2024 in Germany with England, following on from an underwhelming season.
The 25-year-old United star started in the defeat against Rosenborg before returning to the starting XI for the victory over Rangers.
Mount took his place in the starting XI again for the Arsenal match and the former Chelsea star appeared lively with his first-half performance.
The England international started behind striker Rasmus Hojlund, who opened the scoring for United in the first half before he was withdrawn due to an injury.
Mount impressed fans with his performance by being a constant presence in the United attack, with the former Blues ace silencing his harshest critics.
The United player saw out the first half before Erik ten Hag withdrew Mount and replaced him with Scott McTominay for the second half.
Man Utd fans react to Mount vs Arsenal
United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, praised Mount for appearing “like our new signing” with his performance against Arsenal.
Mount underwhelmed in his debut season at Old Trafford after he was signed from Chelsea in 2023, with the United star’s campaign being curtailed by injuries.
However, the Three Lions star’s display at the SoFi Stadium led to United fans suggesting that he was a “rejuvenated player” and looked “sharp” against Arsenal.
Red Devils supporters boldly predicted that Mount could have a “mad partnership” with Rasmus Hojlund and could make a real impact in the 2024-25 season.
“I’m signing the contract for the purchase of Mason Mount’s stock. I see [a] mad partnership between him and Hojlund,” one fan said.
Another added: “Mason Mount really looks like our new signing.”
Someone else commented: “Really pleased with the performance of Mason Mount in that 1st half.”
“Mason Mount is looking like a rejuvenated player,” a fourth tweeted.
While a fifth posted: “I have a feeling Mason Mount will cook this season. He looks sharp.”
“Mason Mount has been [unbelievable] this pre-season, TBH,” another wrote.
A seventh said: “Mason Mount is such a valuable player to have in a squad. The man’s work rate is unbelievable and can really play anywhere. I’m so excited to see what positions he plays this season.”
And an eighth added: “Mason Mount is balling. This could be his season; pre-season has been fair to him.”
