Sure and Confirmed two players to complete medicals at Manchester United today- Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United are on the brink of finalizing two significant additions to their midfield as they prepare for the upcoming season, according to Evening Standard.
Manuel Ugarte, the Uruguayan midfielder, is expected to travel to Manchester today to undergo a medical examination, signaling the completion of his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Initially anticipated as a loan deal, the transfer has now been confirmed as a permanent move, with Manchester United agreeing to an initial fee of £42 million, with an additional £8 million in potential add-ons.
United manager Erik ten Hag has prioritized strengthening the defensive midfield, a key area for the team, as he also seeks to bolster the squad with a new striker and additional defensive options.
Ugarte’s impending arrival comes after weeks of speculation, with the player himself hinting at the move on social media, adding to the excitement among fans.
In addition to Ugarte, Manchester United has already secured the signings of Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui, making Ugarte their fifth major acquisition this summer.
The club are clearly focused on building a formidable squad for the challenges ahead.
Meanwhile, as Ugarte prepares to join the Red Devils, Scott McTominay is set to depart Manchester United.
The midfielder has reportedly agreed on personal terms with Serie A giants Napoli.
While United was initially hesitant to part with McTominay, the player’s desire for regular first-team football has paved the way for his move to Italy.
Napoli are expected to pay £25 million for McTominay’s services, with a medical scheduled to take place later today.
Hannibal Mejbri is set to finalize his move to Burnley after undergoing a medical on Monday, according to Manchester World.
Manchester United had been open to the Tunisian midfielder’s exit for some time, and it appears that an agreement has now been reached that will see him leave the club permanently.
According to sources, Mejbri will join Burnley on an initial loan deal, with a clause requiring the Championship club to make the transfer permanent next year.
Manchester United has also secured a significant sell-on clause and may have included a future buyback option in the agreement.
Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the developments on social media, stating, “Burnley have reached verbal agreement to sign Hannibal Mejbri from Manchester United. Medical tests taking place today as club to club deal done on loan with mandatory buy clause. Almost there.”
Burnley is reportedly impressed by Mejbri’s prior experience, including a loan stint in the Championship with Birmingham City, and his 27 caps for the Tunisian national team.
Mejbri’s most recent loan was with La Liga side Sevilla during the latter half of last season, though the Spanish club chose not to activate their €20 million option to buy him this summer.
That deal, like the one with Burnley, contained both a buy-back clause and a sell-on clause.
Hannibal joined Manchester United from Monaco five years ago in a €10 million deal, with United beating out Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City for his signature.
Throughout his time at United, he made 13 first-team appearances, including a notable performance against Burnley at Turf Moor last season.
When Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag approved the transfer of Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley, it marked the end of a tumultuous period for the young midfielder at Old Trafford, according to Daily Post.
Mejbri, who signed with the Red Devils in 2019 for a potential £9million, had struggled to break into the first team, making only 13 appearances. His time at United was also marred by a training ground altercation with teammate Alex Telles in 2022, which forced then-head coach Ralf Rangnick to end the session early.
Despite his potential, Mejbri found himself deemed surplus to requirements by Ten Hag. The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Birmingham City and Sevilla, but a permanent move to Burnley, with an obligation to buy, signals a fresh start.
Mejbri’s departure raises questions about his disciplinary issues and whether they contributed to Ten Hag’s decision. However, the move also presents an opportunity for the Tunisian international to revive his career and prove himself in the Championship.
As Manchester United continues to evolve under Ten Hag, Mejbri’s transfer serves as a reminder that the club is willing to let go of players who don’t fit their vision. For Mejbri, it’s a chance to start anew and demonstrate his abilities at Burnley.
