The club owners should tell me about my future – Eric ten Hag speaks out

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has expressed frustration and uncertainty surrounding his future at the club, suggesting that the team’s co-owners have kept him in the dark about any potential decisions, according to Sportskeeda.

Following Sunday’s 0-0 draw against Aston Villa, which extended United’s winless run to five games, Ten Hag addressed the growing speculation surrounding his position.

“I don’t have any idea that is different…because they should have told me,” Ten Hag said. “We communicate very open, very transparent.”

The Dutch manager emphasized his regular dialogue with club chiefs, stating, “I speak continuously with them and just after the game I have to do my job, talk with the players, manage the players and answer questions from you. We always talk. Every week, I would say every day we talk.”

Ten Hag attributed the noise surrounding his future to external sources, distinguishing it from the internal disappointment within the club.

“I think you said it very good – external noise,” he said. “Internal, we are disappointed, we know we have to do better, especially we need to score more, that is the moment in this area after this block of games where we are really short.”

Manchester United’s dismal start to the season, with just eight points from seven Premier League games, has sparked widespread speculation about Ten Hag’s future.

INEOS, the club’s co-owners, are reportedly set to discuss Ten Hag’s position during the international break, casting further uncertainty over his tenure.

Ten Hag received a one-year contract extension in the summer, but the team’s poor form has raised questions about his ability to lead the club.

As the international break provides a temporary reprieve from on-field struggles, Ten Hag’s future remains the primary concern.

Former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance in their 0-0 draw against Aston Villa. The Bulgarian forward was particularly critical of the fact that veteran defender Jonny Evans, at 36 years old, was named man of the match.

Berbatov, known for his analytical insights, shared his thoughts on Sky Sports, stating, “Everybody on the pitch should be ashamed because Jonny Evans is man of the match at 36. It speaks volumes about the team.” He argued that the rest of the players should be held accountable for their lackluster performances, especially considering Evans’ age and experience.

The former striker’s comments reflect a growing concern among fans and experts regarding Manchester United’s recent form, with the team currently sitting in 14th place in the Premier League. Berbatov’s critique highlights the need for the entire squad to step up and perform at a higher level to meet the club’s high expectations.

Despite the overall disappointment with the team’s performance, Evans’ solid display was praised by many, including Berbatov. However, the former United star made it clear that relying on a 36-year-old defender for standout performances should not be the norm for a club of Manchester United’s stature.
