Transfer: Italian giants Napoli agrees to swap Victor Osimhen with Man Utd Rasmus Hojlund
Italian agent Andrea D’Amico, has suggested that Manchester United could sign Victor Osimhen through a swap deal that will involve Rasmus Højlund moving to Napoli and the Nigeria international moving the other way round.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of the club’s minority owners INEOS, is keen on changing the fortunes of the Premier League giants by signing high-profile players like the Super Eagles forward.
In order to stay within the limit of the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules, they are ready to let go of high-earning players that are deemed surplus to requirements to make way for new players.
French duo Raphaël Varane and Anthony Martial are already set to leave on a free upon the expiration of their contracts while Casemiro could also be shown the exit door after a disastrous end to the campaign.
Højlund, who moved to Old Trafford last summer, has had a decent start to life in England, scoring 16 goals in all competitions but there is no gainsaying that Osimhen will be a huge upgrade on the former Atalanta forward.
Speaking to TEAMtalk, D’Amico has claimed that Manchester United could be open to letting the Denmark international leave for Napoli while they get Osimhen in return.
“The future of Osimhen? It’s difficult to say now, we’re in May and it’s not a small deal so we’ll have to wait.”
“He speaks English, the Premier League is the most important championship in the world. He doesn’t go to Barcelona and Real Madrid and if he doesn’t go to PSG or Bayern either, he will only be left with the Premier League.”
“Osimhen-Hojlund exchange with United? It’s feasible, Manchester United respects the characteristics where Osimhen could play, in short, it’s a plausible scenario.”
The 25-year-old is in high-demand with PSG and Chelsea willing to sign him but the Napoli striker is said to be willing to move to the Premier League and not the Ligue 1 where he last played.
Manchester United’s Harry Maguire will miss the FA Cup final against Manchester City due to a muscular injury, but three player have been deemed fit to play, according to Manchester Evening News.
Although Maguire was named in Gareth Southgate’s provisional England squad for the upcoming European Championship, his recovery has not progressed sufficiently to feature in the final.
Maguire, 31, has been sidelined for over two weeks, unable to recover in time for the showdown with the Premier League champions.
United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed Maguire’s absence, but stated that other key players are returning to fitness. “Harry Maguire is unavailable, but the rest of the players are ready,” Ten Hag stated. “The injury didn’t heal as expected.”
Despite Maguire’s absence, United’s injury list is relatively short. Tyrell Malacia has been out all season with a knee injury, and Luke Shaw has been sidelined since mid-February with a hamstring issue.
However, Victor Lindelof, Mason Mount, and Anthony Martial have returned to training and may be included in the matchday squad after the final training session on Friday.
Ten Hag remains focused on securing silverware, aiming for a second trophy under his management after last year’s League Cup triumph.
Reacting to the significance of the FA Cup final, he said, “It’s all about trophies and we have a huge opportunity to win a trophy, “So the last ten years, not so many trophies in this club but we have an opportunity to win two trophies in two years
The FA Cup final offers United a shot at redemption after a challenging season, which saw them finish eighth in the Premier League and last in their Champions League group.
