Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes put in a superb performance in Saturday’s stunning 3-2 comeback win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The Red Devils made the worst possible start at Old Trafford, conceding two goals in the first four minutes of the game. Christian Eriksen scored in the 17th minute.

Casemiro missed a golden opportunity to level United before the break, but he bounced back by scoring an equalizer in the 52nd minute. The goal was created by the genius of Fernandes. The Portugal international produced a superb one-two with Marcus Rashford from a free-kick before putting the ball back into home plate for Casemiro to head in from yards out.

Fernandes decided the game for United with the winning goal from the penalty spot in the 76th minute. The 28-year-old really set a good example and picked up a memorable home win.

Apart from his goal contributions, he had a brilliant total of 107 touches with 55 assists and six long balls. He won seven duels and three tackles. It was an outstanding performance from the Portuguese.

Admittedly, he was guilty of losing possession 34 times during the game, but in the end it didn’t matter as United prevailed with a morale-boosting victory ahead of the away trip to Arsenal.

United need to improve their defensive record to challenge for the Premier League title, but manager Erik ten Hag should be happy with the way they reacted against Forest.

The club travel to the Emirates Stadium in eight days to meet the Gunners. Mikel Arteta’s team is also sensitive in defense. United should expect back-to-back wins ahead of the international break.
