What Manchester United told me after I told them to wait till end of the season before taking their job

Recall that yesterday being Friday the 1st day of November, 2024 Manchester United officially announced on their official social media handles that they have appointed Portuguese tactician, Ruben Amorim as their new head coach.

The Red Devil’s recently fired Dutch tactician, Erik Ten Hag after a poor run of form and they wasted no time in finding his replacement. Speaking after he was officially confirmed as the new head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim revealed that Sporting CP started the season very well and then Manchester United came and paid above his release clause.

Amorim revealed that he asked if he could stay at Sporting CP until the end of the season before moving to Manchester United but he was told that it is now or never and that if he doesn’t join the Red Devil’s now, the club will go for another alternative so he had no choice.

“In his Words”

“We know that we started very well and then this situation with Manchester United came. Manchester United appeared and paid above the clause, the cancellation and the compensation clause and the President defended the club’s interest. I never discussed anything with the President about this bargaining. The only question I made was only to go in the end of the season, for three days I said i wanted to stay untill the end of the season but I was told it was not possible, it was now or never or Manchester United will go for another option so I had three days to make a decision”.

Sky Sports shared the video of the Interview on their official instagram page today being Saturday the 2nd day of November, 2024 and it stirred massive reactions from football fans across the globe.

Manchester United has officially appointed Ruben Amorim as their new head coach, following the sacking of Erik ten Hag after a disappointing 2-1 defeat against West Ham. Amorim, 39, leaves his role at Sporting CP, where he has led the team to the top of the Portuguese league table, to take on one of the most challenging jobs in European football.

United wasted no time in securing Amorim as their new manager, triggering his release clause and sending a delegation to Lisbon earlier in the week to finalize the deal. In a statement, the club expressed their excitement, noting, “Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements. He has signed a contract until June 2027 with a club option for an additional year.”

The Portuguese tactician is expected to officially join the Red Devils on November 11, after he fulfills his final obligations with Sporting. Until then, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in interim charge, steering the team for the upcoming matches.

Amorim’s highly anticipated first game will come after the international break, with an away fixture against Ipswich Town on November 24. Fans will get their first glimpse of Amorim at Old Trafford four days later, when United faces Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

As reported by Daily Star, Amorim has rapidly risen through the coaching ranks in Portugal. He began his managerial career with Casa Pia before taking over Braga’s B team and later its senior team, where he won the Taca da Liga. Sporting CP hired him in 2020, and under his leadership, they won the Primeira Liga twice, ending a 19-year title drought, and secured two additional Taca da Liga trophies.

United fans are hopeful that Amorim, known for his strategic insight and ability to develop young players, will bring fresh energy to the club and help restore their status as title contenders.
