What’s Happening? Manchester United’s €80m Benjamin Šeško Pursuit & Ruben Amorim’s Latest Comments.
Manchester United’s pursuit of highly-rated striker Benjamin Šeško has reached a critical stage, but as of now, the €80 million signing is not yet completed. Despite reports of an aggressive push by the Red Devils to land the Slovenian international before the start of the Premier League season, RB Leipzig are standing firm on their valuation and insist any sale would need to meet the full release clause.
Šeško, 21, is considered one of the most promising young forwards in Europe. After a strong season with Leipzig and an impressive UEFA Euro 2024 showing, his market value has surged. United see him as a long-term solution to their attacking issues and a potential successor to Rasmus Højlund or even a strike partner in a revamped system under Erik ten Hag. Personal terms are reportedly not an issue, but negotiations between the clubs remain delicate.
Meanwhile, Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim has addressed media speculation surrounding the future of his key players—particularly Morten Hjulmand and Gonçalo Inácio, both linked with Manchester United. In his latest interview, Amorim stated:
> “We are prepared for interest in our players. It’s part of football. But we also have our goals and limits. The squad is focused, and nothing is done until it’s official.”
Amorim’s comments suggest that while Sporting are aware of the transfer interest—particularly from United—they won’t be pressured into selling unless their demands are met.
With the Premier League season fast approaching, United are expected to accelerate talks in the coming days. Whether Šeško joins before the opening matchweek remains to be seen, but the club is clearly working hard behind the scenes to deliver a marquee signing.
