According to CaughtOffside, Amorim is a huge admirer of the Al-Hilal midfielder and has identified him as a potential solution to United’s midfield struggles.
Neves, who left Wolves for Saudi Arabia in 2023, has been linked with a return to Europe for months. With January approaching, those rumours are gaining momentum, and United appear to be one of the clubs monitoring the situation closely. The 27-year-old remains in his prime, known for his exceptional passing range, composure under pressure, and leadership qualities in midfield.
However, the sticking point is the price tag. Al-Hilal are said to value Neves at around €20 million, which United insiders believe is excessive given the circumstances. The club are already balancing a tight budget following significant summer spending, and splashing out that sum in January may not be feasible. Instead, a loan deal with an option to buy is viewed as the more realistic path forward, especially as Saudi clubs have shown some flexibility in allowing big-name players to make temporary moves back to Europe.
