Ivan Perišić spoke out for the first time shortly after his surgery, posting a photo on Thursday of himself on crutches, his right leg surgically repaired and immobilized. As a reminder, he suffered a serious injury to the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Perišić’s recovery is expected to take five to six months, meaning he could potentially play a few matches by the end of the season. Perišić’s goal is also to represent Croatia at the next European Championships, as Romano reports.
The Italian journalist also claims that Perišić will fulfill his contract with Tottenham, suggesting that he will stay in London for the whole season. This is disappointing news for Hajduk fans, who had hoped for his arrival this winter. Perišić’s potential transfer to Hajduk has been discussed for months; Last summer, Italian journalist Gianluca DiMarzio reported that a deal was close, but ultimately failed to materialize.
Perišić was injured in mid-September during a Tottenham training session. It was a non-contact injury and there were fears it could even end his career, considering he turns 35 next February. However, it seems that the Croatian international is determined to continue playing. As for a possible move to Hajduk, Perišić could do so as a free agent next season if he does not renew his contract at Tottenham. He has repeatedly promised to return to the club where he played in the youth ranks, but never in the first team.

Tottenham and near misses often go hand in hand. Spurs were joined by a host of players, some of whom would have played a crucial role in finally ending their near two-decade wait for a trophy. Express Sport takes a look at some of the players Spurs have almost signed over the years… Willian

Willian: The most famous example of Tottenham’s failure to sign a player was Willian’s near-arrival in the summer of 2013. The Brazilian was so close to signing for Spurs that he even underwent hours of medical tests with White Hart Lane and then with coach Andre Villas – Boas confirmed it during a press conference.
But Chelsea pulled off a remarkable hijacking by poaching the winger in the last minute, with Jose Mourinho joking: “That’s the danger of medicals before contracts.”

Mbappé

Kylian Mbappe

It is widely believed that Spurs are keeping an eye on 16-year-old Kylian Mbappe after he impressed for them against Monaco in a Champions League match in 2015. The north Londoners quickly made it to the World Cup in complete self-confidence. scope.

Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo: Former player and scout Ronny Rosenthal recently revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo was one of the many players that Spurs didn’t want to listen to. He told The Athletic: “There would be hundreds of players if the clubs had listened… One of the ones I will never forget is Cristiano Ronaldo, who I saw because I was traveling a lot in Portugal at that time.”

Ronaldo, of course, became a legendary figure on the world stage, scoring hundreds of goals for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, and winning the Ballon d’Or five times.

Van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk: Van Dijk, then a Celtic star, was heavily linked with Spurs when the Premier League side were looking for a new centre-back in 2015. The North Londoners eventually signed Toby Alderweireld, who admittedly enjoyed a very successful career with Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Diego Maradona: Teddy Sheringham once revealed that Spurs were in talks to sign Diego Maradona. Ossie Ardiles contacted the England striker and asked his opinion on a possible signing. Sheringham asked who. “He was like ‘Diego Maradona’ and I was like ‘Ossie, Ossie, really!? Are you?’ I said, ‘Do it,’” Sheringham recalled.
“He said, ‘I’m talking to him right now,’ and I said, ‘God, do it, it would be great to play with him.'”
