Harry Kane has said goodbye to his ex-Tottenham team-mates and staff after he was granted permission to reconnect with them at Enfield on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old, who left Spurs to sign for Bayern Munich in August, returned to Spurs’ training ground for the first time since his £86.4million move, ahead of England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy. Gareth Southgate’s side had trained at St George’s Park in the build-up to their 1-0 victory over Australia at Wembley, but decided to stay closer to London before taking on the Azzurri.

Kane was part of the squad that arrived at Tottenham’s training base and he was pictured in action with the rest of the England side preparing for the clash. But, as the Three Lions were about to leave for the national stadium, Kane was able to join back up with his former Spurs colleagues, according to the Daily Mail.

During that time, Kane bid farewell to the staff he had worked with over the years and was also allowed to enter Tottenham’s first-team facilities as they ramp up preparations for Monday’s home game against Fulham. Kane was able to meet his former team-mates in the process, although several players, including Heung min-Son, were still on international duty with their respective countries.

It has been over two months since Kane left his boyhood club to join Bayern in the summer transfer window. The England captain had scored 30 Premier League goals last season and Spurs reluctantly cashed in on their talisman on the eve of their opening game of the season at Brentford.

Despite losing Kane, Tottenham have impressed under Ange Postecoglou and currently sit at the top of the Premier League. They have picked up 20 points from their first eight matches and are one of only two teams unbeaten, with north London rivals Arsenal the other team not to lose in the league.

Speaking last week, Kane, who left in a bid to finally win some silverware, was asked about Spurs’ form and said: “It’s great to see. I think I’ve said before, the manager is doing great for them with the way they’re playing. The fans are right behind the team and it’s definitely what they needed after the last few years.

“I’ll always keep an eye on Spurs and the Premier League. Of course, there’s still along way to go, but like the manager said, there’s no reason why the fans shouldn’t be excited and happy with the way things are going. Hopefully they can continue.

“I have made it clear my whole career I am a Tottenham fan and I would love to see Tottenham do well. There is no other team in the Premier League I would want to win than Tottenham.

“Also, I have to be respectful to Bayern Munich and of course, the fans know I will always have a soft spot for Spurs – there is no question about that – but I have got to put all my attention on Bayern Munich and to make us as successful as possible.”

Those comments come after Daniel Levy confirmed in a fans’ forum that Tottenham had inserted a buy-back clause in Kane’s transfer to Bayern. Kane did hint at a possible return after his exit, saying: “It’s not a goodbye, because you never know how things pan out in the future… I’ll see you soon.” He has scored nine goals in 10 games for Thomas Tuchel’s side since his move to the Allianz Arena.
