Early Team News: Man United receive five injury updates ahead of Burnley clash
Manchester United could have several players back in action for their Premier League clash against Burnley on Saturday.
The Red Devils experienced another painful loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Saturday, with the 4-3 scoreline flattering Erik ten Hag’s men on the night.
That followed on from Premier League defeats against both Arsenal and Brighton. Now, United must collect three points as they travel to Turf Moor to face Vincent Kompany’s Burnley.
And it seems like they could be boosted by some returning injured players. They currently have over 10 men unavailable for selection.
It has been reported by ESPN that The Reds are ‘hopeful’ of having Raphaël Varane and Mason Mount available for United this weekend. The pair were spotting in training before the trip to Germany.
However, on the other hand, the report also detailed that there are concerns that Luke Shaw will be out until the November international break, whilst Aaron Wan-Bissaka will be out for a similar amount of time.
Interestingly, information from social media account ‘Insider United’ has stated that Sofyan Amrabat is currently deemed fit enough to make the squad to face Burnley despite only working on the training pitch individually when pictured earlier this week.
The account added that Mount will not yet be available and that Kobbie Mainoo is around two weeks away from returning.
Whilst the complete reliability of the account is not fully known, they were the first to publish information on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s extended outlay, as well as revealing that Varane would not be in the squad to face Bayern.
Elsewhere, Harry Maguire missed out on the Champions League fixture after injury ‘complaints’ ahead of the game in training. Tyrell Malacia and Shaw remain sidelined too, but new addition Sergio Reguilon has impressed during his first two games, despite the results.
“Maybe, as you say, Harry Maguire,” replied Ten Hag when asked in his pre-match press conference about the latest regarding Varane, Mount, Amrabat, Maguire and Tyrell Malacia.
“We will see better after training [on Friday afternoon]. But Varane will train and we will see. Amrabat, he will train and we will see. Mount, as well, but they all didn’t play for a short or longer term. Varane, obviously, was the shortest [time] out.”
