Dele Alli gets lifeline as impending Man City transfer can gift him another chance at the top
Dele Alli could be courted by West Ham for another big chance
An impending Manchester City transfer could reportedly pave the way for Dele Alli being given another chance at making it back at the top level.
His first Premier League assignment, Tottenham, allowed Dele to express his natural talents on the big stage. He moved from, at the time, League One MK Dons in 2015, and a year later, he had 10 Premier League goals and nine assists.
In his 269 Spurs games, Dele scored 67 goals and provided 59 assists, and for a good while was one of the most exciting attacking-midfielders in England.
But he dwindled at the back end of his spell, and things have only spiralled further since then.
The 37-cap England international moved to Everton, where he has played just 13 games since January 2022, and has also endured a failed loan to Besiktas.
Off-field issues have also mired his career, and while it would seem unlikely after his lowly impact at Goodison Park that the Toffees would want to keep him with his contract running down – he’s out of contract this summer – it has been reported that they are keen on renewing it.
Everton could still be relegated to the Championship, as they’re teetering just above the drop zone.
But a Premier League stay could reportedly be on the cards for Dele elsewhere.

Man City transfer could allow Dele Prem return
Indeed, Manchester City are hot on the tail of West Ham man Lucas Paqueta.
Multiple reports of late have suggested they still want him in the midst of an investigation into illegal betting activity, and could pull the trigger as soon as he’s free of that.
If he leaves, an attacking-midfield signing will be needed for the Hammers.
And football.london suggests Dele could be a man they look at to replace Paqueta.
They cite the fact his current deal is set to expire soon as a reason clubs will be looking at him in order to give him another chance.
While remaining with Everton – if they do renew his deal – could potentially see him drop to the Championship, that could be a good thing for the attacking-midfielder to find his feet again.
But on his day, he is a far better player than one who should be playing in the second tier, should be find his best form again.
West Ham are currently eighth in the Premier League, and if the Toffees remain in the top flight or not, the Hammers will be in a better position than them, as they have tended to be in recent seasons.
As such, Dele would be playing with better players at the London stadium, and that could help him to get back on track.

Ian Doyle – Alexis Mac Allister cannot play forever
Six more to go. With Liverpool out of Europe, the Jurgen Klopp farewell tour is now confined to the Premier League.
And it continues at Fulham this afternoon with the Reds looking to keep pace with new leaders Arsenal. What, then, is the Liverpool boss to do?
There have to be changes. Not in goal, though. That’s Alisson Becker. And much of the defence can stay the same with Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back and Andy Robertson left-back, but Jarell Quansah can come in to partner skipper Virgil van Dijk at centre-back.

We simulated Fulham vs Liverpool to get a Premier League score prediction – and it had everything
In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister cannot play forever so Wataru Endo returns as the number six. Harvey Elliott is due a start on the right of the triumvirate, and I’d stick with Curtis Jones to the left.
Up top, Mohamed Salah continues on the right with Darwin Nunez coming back down the middle and Cody Gakpo moving to the left.
My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Elliott, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo.
Theo Squires – Harvey Elliott gets a deserved start
Liverpool might have returned to winning ways away at Atalanta on Thursday, but they were still far from convincing as they exited the Europa League. That has to change to keep their title hopes alive.
So now, Fulham away and the first of three Premier League away matches in a week. A shame for the out-of-form Reds that Craven Cottage has not been the best hunting ground in recent years then, with their last victory there coming back in 2019.
They have drawn their last three trips to the Cottage, and needed late penalties for their last two wins away at Fulham, with their last
‘comfortable victory’ in this fixture coming 11 years ago thanks to a Daniel Sturridge hat-trick. Both recent form and history would suggest Liverpool are in for another nervous afternoon.
With Reds actually keeping a rare clean sheet in Bergamo, I’d name an unchanged back five for this one. Meanwhile, Wataru Endo returns at number six after being left unused against Atalanta.
Harvey Elliott gets a deserved start in place of the out-of-form Dominik Szoboszlai against his former club, while Curtis Jones continues in the engine-room as Alexis Mac Allister is afforded a rest.

In attack, Darwin Nunez returns upfront with Cody Gakpo moving to his favoured left-wing position in place of Luis Diaz. Mohamed Salah keeps his place in hope that he will play his way back into form sooner rather than later!
My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Elliott, Endo, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo.
Emilia Bona – Salah should play his way back into form
Coming off the back of a string of disappointing results, it really feels like Liverpool need to make a statement with their performance today.
And with only six league games left to play, a full-strength Liverpool side can decisively show they are still in with a chance of chasing down Arsenal following their 2-0 win against Wolves.
Changes are needed, but I’d leave the back five relatively unchanged. All apart from Jarell Quansah who should come in for Ibrahima Konaté. Having started the last three games, he’s earned himself a rest ahead of the Merseyside Derby.
In midfield, I reluctantly have to agree with Ian Doyle that Alexis Mac Allister unfortunately can not play forever – so Endo makes a welcome return in the number six role.
Harvey Elliott also gets a start in the place of Dominik Szoboszlai, with Curtis Jones on the left once again.
In attack, Mohamed Salah starts in the hopes of a goal that doesn’t come from a penalty – and that more minutes on the pitch sees him playing his way back into form.
My team (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Robertson; Endo, Elliott, Jones; Gakpo, Salah, Diaz

Confirmed Man United XI vs Coventry City: Casemiro at centre-back, Scott McTominay comes in

Casemiro scores
Erik ten Hag has barely got enough fit Manchester United players to fill the squad for today’s FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.
Willy Kambwala, Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat have been added to the already extensive queue at the physiotherapy room at Old Trafford.
This means that Harry Maguire is the only fit centre back in the squad, and so Casemiro will play alongside him in defence.
Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are the full backs and Andre Onana is in goal.
Kambwala joins Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia on the list of injured defenders.
In midfield, Scott McTominay takes over from Casemiro next to Kobbie Mainoo.
The only other fit senior midfield option is Christian Eriksen, who is on the bench.
Thankfully there are no more injuries up front, unless the warm-up yields another surprise.
This means Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford will form the attacking midfield, with Rasmus Hojlund ahead of them in the centre forward position.
Anthony Martial is still unavailable.

The injury crisis means a very youthful bench for the Red Devils.
Altay Bayindir is joined by Harry Amass, Louis Jackson, Habeeb Ogunneye, Amad, Omari Forson, Ethan Wheatley and the only two senior stars, Eriksen and Antony, who returns from injury.
Kick-off at Wembley will be at 3.30pm. The winner of today’s tie will play Manchester City in the final.

What Kevin De Bruyne did at full time vs Chelsea shows Man City truth amid double chase

Was Manchester City’s ‘worst performance of the season’ actually their best?
City were tired against Chelsea, kicking off less than three days since crashing out of the Champions League following 120 long minutes against Real Madrid. They kept faith with seven of the starters who faced Real and lost two of their fresher players to injury. No wonder they weren’t at their best at Wembley. They didn’t need to be.
The fact that they still reached a second successive FA Cup final despite all those challenges shows what kind of a team Pep Guardiola has created. ‘You are tired? F— you’, he famously said in the Amazon documentary a few years back, and he was unimpressed with Rodri’s public complaints of tiredness earlier this month.

He dismissed the idea that the tight turnaround this week would be an excuse, insisting his side would deal with it. Kevin De Bruyne was ‘exhausted’ and asked to come off against Madrid but here he was playing 90 minutes at Wembley. He’s still not back to his best and the scope for him to get a much-needed rest to reset is non-existent. But for all his on-pitch frustrations and a fair few misplaced passes, he was at the heart of City’s winning goal.

As Guardiola has also said – De Bruyne doesn’t help you play better but he helps you to win games. And that’s all City needed to do on Saturday. De Bruyne was named man of the match by the BBC commentators, but it was Bernardo who went from zero to hero in the space of three days.
He popped up at the back post – from De Bruyne’s deflected cross – to score the all-important winner at Wembley. He was derided outside of the CFA for his missed penalty three days ago, and here he was keeping the double double dream alive, with 210 minutes in three days.
