In a farewell letter released through his representatives, SEG, Ten Hag addressed United supporters: “Thank you for always being there for the club. Whether at a distant away game or during tough matches at Old Trafford, your support was unshakeable. The electrifying atmosphere at Old Trafford and the chants from our away fans filled us with incredible energy, whether we played in England, Europe, or during summer tours.”

Ten Hag cherished interactions with United fans worldwide, from Europe to Asia, Australia, and the United States, acknowledging the unique bond they shared. “You inspired me and radiated a strong sense of unity,” he wrote. “I will always be grateful for this feeling and the unwavering support you gave me.”

He also expressed his appreciation for the club’s staff, acknowledging their dedication through highs and lows. Reflecting on his achievements, Ten Hag noted, “We won two trophies—memories I will cherish for life. My dream was to add more silverware, but that dream has ended. I wish nothing but the best for Manchester United and hope the club continues to enjoy glory.”

Ten Hag’s dismissal followed a 2-1 defeat at West Ham, which left United 14th in the league, with just three wins and 11 points from nine matches. The club’s struggles extended to Europe, where they remain winless in the Europa League after a 1-1 draw at Fenerbahce.

Interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy has stepped in, securing a 5-2 Carabao Cup victory over Leicester. He will lead the team against Chelsea on Sunday and continue through key matches against PAOK and Leicester before Amorim officially takes over on November 11.
