Man City’s next five Premier League fixtures compared to Arsenal and Liverpool

Manchester City entered the international break on the back of consecutive losses for the first time since 2018 and will be desperate to put things right.

The Blues’ 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates will have stung but the Treble winners are still just two points from top spot. Pep Guardiola will be boosted by the return of Rodri. The side lost all three matches he was banned for following his red card against Nottingham Forest.

City are not set to have it easy over their next batch of Premier League fixtures during a period that will once again test the mettle of this season’s squad. The champions will be confident of honing their winning mentality to overtake Arsenal, who also face a few tricky fixtures.

The north Londoners will look to progress to the semi-final of the competition with victory in Germany. Attention now turns back to the Premier League with Aston Villa visiting the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The title race resumes with Manchester City and Liverpool in another pivotal weekend.

Here’s how the next five fixtures stack up with the rest of the top three.

Aston Villa (H) – Sunday, April 14

Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery brings his Villa team to the Emirates Stadium looking to solidify their own ambitions for the Champions League.

Villa are currently fifth, level on points with Tottenham in fourth, but have managed just one win in their previous five games. They play on Thursday night in the Europa Conference League against Lille.

Bayern Munich (A) – Wednesday, April 17

After last night’s thriller in London, Arsenal will head to Germany confident of victory. Arteta’s side performed well at stages in the first-leg but were undone by two mistakes.

Next week’s clash will be a big one with a place in the semi-final up for grabs.

Wolves (A) – Saturday, April 20

After travelling to the Allianz Arena, Arsenal travel to the Black Country to take on Wolves in another crucial Premier League clash. Molineux has proved a tricky place for the Gunners in the years gone by but they will need maximum points with City and Liverpool chasing their tails.

Gary O’Neil’s men have proved difficult customers for some this season and they have already defeated Man City earlier in the season.

Chelsea (H) – Tuesday, April 23

In years gone by, playing Chelsea at home would perhaps be viewed as a difficult fixture. However, Arsenal’s London rivals have been inconsistent once again and lurk mid-table in the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have troubled some of the league’s better teams this season and the Gunners will want to avoid a potential banana skin.

Tottenham (A) – Sunday, April 28

A tough April finishes with a trip to north London rivals Tottenham. Spurs will want to do everything in their power to stop Arsenal from being crowned champions and defeating them at the end of the month would certainly do that.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are competing for a place in the UEFA Champions League and could prove to be a tricky opponent.

Man City next five fixtures

Luton (H) – Saturday, April 13

Real Madrid (H) – Wednesday, April 17 (Champions League)

Chelsea (N) – Saturday, April 20 (FA Cup)

Nottingham Forest (A) – Sunday, April 25

Liverpool next five fixtures

Atalanta (H) – Thursday, April 11 (Europa League)
