🚨🏴 NEW!Manchester United have identified Crystal Palace’s midfield starlet Adam Wharton as a long-term target but are unlikely to make a move during the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old, who joined Palace from Blackburn Rovers earlier this year, has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising young midfielders. His composure on the ball, vision in deep areas, and ability to dictate tempo have not gone unnoticed, drawing the admiration of top clubs.

Sources close to Old Trafford suggest that while United are monitoring Wharton’s progress closely, the club’s current priority in January will be strengthening other areas of the squad rather than investing heavily in midfield. A summer approach, however, looks increasingly likely as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the recruitment team plot a strategic rebuild under manager Ruben Amorim.

United will not have a free run at the player. Chelsea, who have been aggressive in signing England’s brightest prospects, are expected to rival United for Wharton’s signature. Tottenham Hotspur, too, are believed to hold an interest, with Ange Postecoglou keen to add a ball-playing midfielder who fits his high-possession system. This sets the stage for a potential three-way battle at the end of the season.

Palace, for their part, are under no pressure to sell. Wharton is tied down to a long-term contract, and the club see him as central to their future. Any deal would therefore require a significant transfer fee, potentially north of ÂŁ60 million, especially given the level of interest from multiple Premier League giants.

For Manchester United, Wharton represents not only quality but also longevity, fitting the new philosophy of building a younger, hungrier squad. If Amorim gets his way, United’s summer spending could be headlined by the talented Palace midfielder.
