Exclusive: What Marcus Rashford has now told Manchester United about his future after rumours they could sell him

TBR Football understands Marcus Rashford has told Manchester United that does not want to leave the club and is fully focused on recapturing his form at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are ready to overhaul aspects of their squad and at least one new forward is expected to arrive his summer.

Marcus Rashford’s future has been called into question after he struggled to emulate his form of the previous season. He bagged 30 goals in the 2022/23 season which convinced United to hand him a bumper new five-year contract.

However, this season he has just eight to his name and sources have confirmed to TBR that Rashford is one of a host of players they would be open to selling.

Rashford wants to stay at United

Whilst there is not a host of clubs beating down United’s door to enquire about his availability – TBR has been informed by sources with knowledge of the situation that Rashford has made it clear to United that he plans to stay and repay the club’s faith in him as he knows his form this season has been below his own standards but he still firmly believes he can play a key role in the club going forward.

TBR Football understands that United’s focus going forward is going to be via their academy players and they would love Rashford to lead from the front – helping fellow graduates Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Willy Kambwala, who the club want to build their team around.

Rashford’s stats for Man United this season

After netting 30 times and providing 10 assists in Erik ten Hag’s debut campaign, Rashford has struggled to reproduce the form he managed last time out.

The Englishman has bagged just eight times and registered five assists in 40 appearances for United this season.

His form has led to doubts over his place in Gareth Southgate’s squad ahead of the Euros this summer.

A change in the dugout at Old Trafford could rejuvenate Rashford and Thomas Tuchel’s agents have already contacted United over a move to Manchester.

As things stand, the German boss is not seen as a leading candidate to replace Ten Hag as United weigh up their options ahead of the summer.
